Paradise Beach

Paradise Beach, located on the southern coast of Kos Island near Kefalos, is one of the island’s most renowned and picturesque beaches. Often referred to as “Bubble Beach” due to the unique volcanic gas bubbles that rise from the seabed, this natural phenomenon adds a distinctive charm to the beach experience.

The beach boasts fine, golden sand and crystal-clear, shallow waters that extend gently into the sea, making it an ideal spot for families with children and those seeking a relaxing swim . The calm and inviting waters are perfect for snorkeling and observing the underwater bubbles, a result of the island’s volcanic activity.

Paradise Beach is well-equipped with a range of amenities to ensure a comfortable visit. Visitors can find sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, changing rooms, and ample parking nearby . A large canteen-style restaurant and cafΓ© bar offer refreshments and meals, allowing guests to enjoy local cuisine without leaving the beach.

For adventure enthusiasts, the beach offers a variety of water sports activities. Options include jet skiing, banana boat rides, stand-up paddleboarding, and sea kayaking, providing fun and excitement for visitors of all ages.

Easily accessible by car, Paradise Beach is approximately 35 kilometers from Kos Town. Its popularity means it can get quite busy during peak season, so arriving early is recommended to secure a good spot.

In summary, Paradise Beach offers a unique blend of natural beauty, family-friendly amenities, and recreational activities. Whether you’re looking to relax on the sandy shores, explore the underwater bubbles, or engage in thrilling water sports, Paradise Beach provides an unforgettable experience on the island of Kos.

You think you know Kos? Think again. πŸ‘€

Yes, Kos has beautiful beaches. 🌊
Yes, it has sunshine. β˜€οΈ
And yes… the food is pretty hard to resist. πŸ˜‹

But that`s only the beginning.

In UNLOCK KOS β€” Season 1, we go beyond the usual holiday guide to discover the stories hiding behind the island.

πŸ›οΈ We met Hippocrates, born on Kos more than 2,400 years ago.

🩺 We explored the ancient Asklepieion, where healing, religion and medicine came together.

πŸ§€πŸ· We discovered KrasotΓ½ri, Kos`s distinctive cheese matured in wine lees.

β˜• We learned how Greeks survive those hot summer afternoons: Freddo or FrappΓ©?

πŸ”₯🌊 We stepped into the naturally hot waters of Therma.

🏚️ We wandered through the almost-abandoned village of Haihoutes.

⛰️ We climbed towards Mount Dikaios and discovered a completely different side of Kos.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡· And along the way, we learned a little Greek too.

But perhaps the most important lesson came last:

ΣΙΓΑ-ΣΙΓΑ πŸ’™

SigΓ‘-sigΓ‘.

Slowly. Little by little. Don`t rush.

Because Kos isn`t an island you should simply tick off a list.

Taste it. Explore it. Talk to people. Get lost occasionally. Stay for sunset. And take your time.

There is much more to Kos than what you see from your sunbed.

You just have to unlock it. πŸ”πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·

It`s 32Β°C. You`re sitting by the sea on Kos.
You need coffee.
But which one? πŸ‘€

🧊 FREDDO ESPRESSO

Espresso shaken with ice until cold, usually topped with a light layer of foam.

Strong. Cold. Simple.

OR…

πŸ₯€ FRAPPΓ‰

Instant coffee, water and ice shaken into that unmistakable thick foam.

A Greek summer classic. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·

And there`s a third favourite you`ll see everywhere:

β˜• FREDDO CAPPUCCINO

Cold espresso topped with cold, creamy milk foam.

Now let`s actually order one in Greek:

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡· Ένα φρέντο Ρσπρέσο, Ο€Ξ±ΟΞ±ΞΊΞ±Ξ»ΟŽ.

Γ‰na frΓ©ddo esprΓ©so, parakalΓ³.

πŸ‘‰ β€œOne freddo espresso, please.”

That`s a sentence you can genuinely use five minutes after arriving on Kos. 😎

And remember Episode #01?

The waiter asks:

β€œMedium sugar?”

You reply:

ΕντάξΡι! β€” EndΓ‘xi! πŸ˜‰

πŸ‘‡ Now choose your side:

TEAM FREDDO 🧊 or TEAM FRAPPΓ‰ πŸ₯€?

Next time we`re leaving the cafΓ© and heading for the sea…

…and I`ll teach you the Greek words you`ll actually need while exploring Kos. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·

What happens when Kos combines CHEESE + WINE?

You get one of the island`s most distinctive flavours:

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡· ΞšΟΞ±ΟƒΞΏΟ„ΟΟΞΉ ΞšΟ‰ β€” KrasotΓ½ri Ko

Also known locally as TΓ½ri tis PΓ³sias β€” the cheese of posia.

But here`s the interesting part…

The cheese isn`t simply dipped into a glass of wine. 🍷

Traditionally, this white sheep`s or goat`s milk cheese is left to mature for at least a month in wine lees β€” known locally as posia.

That`s what gives the outside its characteristic reddish colour and the cheese its distinctive aroma and flavour.

And this isn`t just another Greek cheese.

πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί Since 2018, KrasotΓ½ri Ko has PGI status, officially linking it to Kos and its local tradition.

πŸ“ When you`re on Kos, look for it in local shops, wineries and traditional tavernas.

πŸ’‘ CarpeDiem tip: Try it with local wine β€” or do it the Greek summer way and pair it with watermelon, melon or grapes. πŸ‰πŸ‡

So now you know:

When Kos gives you wine…

make cheese. πŸ˜‰

Next time we`re staying with the flavours of Kos… but switching from 🍷 to β˜•.

Why did people come to Kos seeking healing more than 2,000 years ago?

The answer is hidden in the hills above Kos Town…

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡· The Asklepieion of Kos β€” ΑσκληπιΡίο

This wasn`t simply a temple.

It was a sanctuary dedicated to Asklepios, the ancient Greek god of healing, and became an important centre for healing and the teaching of medicine.

And the location is spectacular. πŸ’™

Built into a green hillside, the complex rises across three terraces, overlooking Kos and the Aegean.

Imagine arriving here in antiquity:

🌿 surrounded by nature
πŸ›οΈ temples dedicated to healing gods
🩺 physicians and medical knowledge
πŸ™ religion and healing intertwined

Excavations have even uncovered ancient surgical instruments, statues and inscriptions at the site.

Standing here today, you`re walking through one of the places that helped make Kos famous for medicine throughout the ancient world.

πŸ“ Asklepieion of Kos
Around 3.4 km southwest of Kos Town.

And now we`re leaving ancient medicine behind…

πŸ§€ Because there`s something on Kos that combines two things Greeks love: cheese and wine.

What happens when you put them together? πŸ˜‰

There’s something magical about watching the sun slowly disappear behind Kalymnos. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·βœ¨

From the northern coast of Kos, the island rises across the Aegean while the sky changes from gold to orange, pink and deep blue. The sea becomes almost perfectly calm, the heat of the day fades, and for a few minutes everything seems to slow down.

No filter needed. No rush. Just the Aegean, Kalymnos on the horizon and another unforgettable Greek sunset. πŸ’™
