Remember the little Greek word I promised you?
It`s hiding inside expressions you`ll hear everywhere on Kos:
🇬🇷 Γεια — Yia
You`ll hear:
👋 Γεια σου — Yia sou
Hello / Bye — informal, to one person
👋 Γεια σας — Yia sas
Hello / Goodbye — polite or to several people
🥂 And when the glasses come up…
Γεια μας! — Yia mas!
Cheers! 🍷
Literally, γεια is connected with health — which is why you`ll find it in both greetings and toasts.
So when you`re sitting in a little Kos taverna, the local wine arrives and everyone raises their glasses…
Don`t just say cheers.

Spend a little time on Kos and there’s one word you’ll start hearing again and again:
👉 Εντάξει — Endáxi
It can mean:
✓ Okay
✓ Alright
✓ Fine
✓ Agreed
✓ No problem
And Greeks use it… a lot. 😄
Someone asks if everything is okay?
Endáxi.
Your coffee will be ready in five minutes?
Endáxi.
Meeting your friends at the beach later?
Endáxi!
It’s one of those little words that makes Greek suddenly feel much easier.

🇬🇷 Greek: Εντάξει
Try saying it out loud:
En… DÁ… xi.
